05/03/25 - 17/03/25 for the Poly and Esther Gallery (AUArts in Calgary, AB)
“These works are a playful portrait of my younger self. They are a quiet reflection on my personal growth beginning from one of my earliest childhood environments. In our yard back home my dad planted a maple sapling which I grew up playing beside (this tree is now taller than any height I could ever reach). I remember the wonder I felt each year for its falling seeds which spun quickly in the air. The yard of a house is its own home for a young child’s imagination to be nurtured in and here nature is loved like another sibling. These works visualise how my more innocent imagination encountered a world much bigger than myself. They are my wish to continue this kind of wondrous play through my art as an adult.”
